Title: Associate Vice President for Business and Finance
To lead, manage and direct all day-to-day financial affairs of the College, including all fiscal activities related to accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, student accounts, payroll, fixed asset management and accounts payable for the College and College foundation and month-end close.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, student accounts and payroll services operations. Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements to minimize audit findings. Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to appropriate administrators and stakeholders; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership informed of the College’s financial status.
Oversee and review the preparation of form 990, tax filings and other statutorily required reports. Oversee annual operating and capital budgeting process, providing relevant historical and projected financial and other data to senior management. Review all financial plans and compare to actual results to identify, explain and correct variances as appropriate. Ensure the appropriate recording of student tuition, fees, debts and payment. Provide oversight on investing College funds to ensure College has adequate cash reserves.
Oversee accounting operations to ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate and foundation grants. Review and approve requisitions in Jaggaer for appropriate accounting. Ensure the integrity of the internal financial control structure and provide effective financial monitoring and reporting services. Prepare institutional, federal, state and Tennessee Board of Regents required reports. Acts as a representative to the College’s financial partners, including auditors, vendors, donors, partners, public officials and network organizations. May act on routine matters in the absence of the Vice President for Business and Finance and/or serve as the Vice President’s designee as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, finance or related field
Eight (8) years of progressive experience leading fiscal operations
Three (3) years direct supervisory and leadership experience
Certified Public Accountant
Master's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field
Experience working for a public, non-profit or government entity
Prior experience working in a higher education setting
Strong financial modeling, budgeting and analytical skills using advanced Excel techniques, e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.

Willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks and projects. Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels of the organization, including finance and non-finance managers. A willingness and passion to learn new hardware and software systems that are consistent with job responsibilities and area of supervision. Accuracy and precision in accounting functions and reporting software.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to understand and implement complex accounting principles Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and with competing priorities. Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays and at any campus location, regardless if the College is open, classes are in session or operations are limited due to a declared emergency.

Rate of Pay: $88,659 to $110,824 annually, depending on experience
